The Arlington Int’l Film Festival, VOICES OF OUR YOUTH program is thrilled to announce an international partnership with the
Student Film Festival, FENACIES of Montevideo, Uruguay.
These international relationships offer opportunities to students through the art of filmmaking to share experiences and ideas that will hopefully encourage understanding and appreciation among cultures.
SUNDAY, OCTOBER 29, 6 pm
Join the Arlington Int’l Film Festival at the Arlington Center for the Arts for a
conversation with Jorge Cancela, producer of FENACIES. Mr. Cancela will talk about student filmmaking as well as Punta del Este, the Silicon Valley of Uruguay.
Jorge was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. He received his Bachelor’s in Cultural Management from CLAEH University and went on to teach film and produce the FENACIES Student Film Festival and PEALC (Audiovisual Education and Cinematographic Language Program), now in their 13th year.
FENACIES was founded with the initiative of creating a film festival specifically for young people, where the competition is fair, and their creativity and efforts are valued.
The festival has been declared of educational interest by the Primary Education Council, of cultural interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture, and of tourist and sports interest by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports. Since 2015 it has had the Institutional Sponsorship of UNESCO and is now recognized worldwide. www.fenacies.org
