AIFF screens both national and international features and shorts with a focus on our mission of fostering an appreciation for different cultures through independent film. We invite filmmakers to submit their feature-length films or shorts to AIFF 2023.

Feature films (45+ minutes): narrative and documentary, Music, Dance, Art, Virtual reality, Human Rights, Social Social, iPhone, iPhones, Photography...

Short films (less than 45 min): narrative, documentary, animation and experimental

The film must not be available for video or internet distribution prior to October 7, 2021.

The film must be in original language with English subtitles.

Film production must have been completed within the last two years.

The Arlington International Film Festival (AIFF) through its Student Filmmaker’s Program, seeks to honor what young filmmakers, 18 and younger, are bringing to the screen with their agility of mind, creativity, and passion. Through the medium of film, students take stock of the diverse array of social issues here and around the world,  and illuminating the interconnections we share. AIFF is pleased to provide a platform for these young filmmakers to speak out, communicate, and forge alliances rooted in mutual respect while synthesizing different experiences and points of view. Through the screening of these films, AIFF hopes to encourage young filmmakers to share their vision and perhaps encourage the creation of a better tomorrow.

APPLICATION FEE IS WAIVED FOR STUDENTS

Must be 12 to 18 years of age and in middle school or high school to  enter.

Films must be 10 minutes or less.

The films must have been produced within the last two years at the time of submission.

Filmmakers may submit a maximum of two film entries.

A maximum of 5 videos may be submitted by any organization or film program.

The video file must be of projection quality.

Your film must be acceptable for a PG 13 audience.

The first 5 seconds of your film must be a black screen.

Filmmakers can use their own original music in their film, or they may use music that is copyright-free or public domain.

The film must include teen actors.

No guns.

The film cannot depict drug use in a recreational manner or include sex and/or nudity.

All non-English language films must have English subtitles.
