Since AIFF’s inception, the organizers have collaborated with organizations, businesses, fellow film festivals and lovers of film in the Greater Boston area to achieve its mission of fostering an appreciation for different cultures by exploring the lives of people around the globe through independent film.
East Sommerville Main Streets
East Somerville Main Streets mission, to improve the life of their community by creating a connection, investment, and pride in their main streets is a delightful fit with AIFF and we are pleased to bring “Friday Film Night’s” to East Somerville residents. https://www.eastsomervilleguide.com/
Chuckie Harris Park
Built in memory of Charles “Chuckie” Harris by a community committed to children’s play. Located in the “Nunnery Grounds” neighborhood, the park stands just beyond the former site of the Ursuline Convent, which was burned in a riot in 1834. The “Mountain” play area at the center of the park is a tribute to Mt. Benedict, one of Somerville’s seven hills, which stood in this area until it was excavated for brick making in the late 1800s. The car elements in the park recall the Ford Motors auto plant, which operated just north of here from 1926 to 1958. The park was opened in 2013 to replace the Harris Playground, formerly at the end of Cross Street East.
